Ffoto Newport welcome David Hurn to the gallery with a showcase of images taken by the photographer when teaching on the Newport Documentary Photography course in the 1970s & 80s at Newport Art College and later.

Several of the images have never been shown previously and give a glimpse of life within Newport during that period.
A limited edition FOLIO exhibition poster has been produced by Offline Journal in collaboration with David Hurn and Ffoto Newport,
and will be available from the gallery at the exhibition launch event.
Opening Event - 7 May at 5pm
Before the opening of the new exhibition with David Hurn attending, Ffoto Newport will be screening two films at a nearby venue by documentary photographer & filmmaker Roger Tiley, an ex-pupil of Hurn who graduated from the DocPhot course in 1984. Following the screenings there will be a Q&A with the film maker, before everyone then makes the 1 minute walk back to the gallery for the opening of the exhibition at 5pm.
The films being shown are ‘Good evening Elvis is dead’ and Tiley’s most recent documentary ‘Pride in our Valley’.
Please note: Entry to the film screenings is free but you must book beforehand as there will be limited places.
